Thoughts: LOL…I’m erm…STILL waiting on the hurricane! We’ve had nothing but a bit of rain and intermittent rain so far. No damage around dbf’s apartment, although my younger cat took a swipe at dbf’s dog and gave him a scratch near his eye.
I feel terrible about that. We did the kitty manicure this morning and trimmed off all of the sharp claws on both cats.
I feel so lucky that I still have cable and power right now. My parents lost power for a few hours yesterday afternoon, but are back up today. They are doing fine as well, thank goodness.
Funny incident–last night around 7:50 pm, dbf decides to fill the bathtub with water in case we lose power and clean water overnight. Well, he tells me to remind him to shut it off, then we both settle in to watch tv…and one hour later, I head toward the bathroom only to step in a huge puddle of water in the kitchen. “Water?” I said. Dbf immediately jumps up from the couch, shouts, “OMG, the bathtub!” and dashes into the bedroom, which by now is flooded at least 1″ deep ABOVE the carpet and padding with water. My cats, who were in there doing some time out after the altercation with the dog, were lying on the bed, just watching us freak out in the ankle deep water.
So, before the hurricane even hit us, dbf and I were sopping up wet carpet and tile from our man-made flood for 3 hours!
What a fun weekend.
After we soaked up as much of the water as we could with towels, I treated myself to a big fat bowl of cereal after a day of clean eating. I tried to have it with some PerfectRX vanilla shake, but discovered that the stuff is absolutely VILE, not at all as yummy as the chocolate. It tastes as nasty as I imagine a vanilla-scented candle would taste. I’m glad I only got two packets. I don’t know if I can use the second package. Maybe for a coconut mousse pie?
