Temporary Downtime for Upgrade

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I’ll be attempting an upgrade of my blog script to Wordpress 1.5 tonight around 10 pm EST. With luck, things should be pretty painless, and the site will be back up and running by 10:30 to 11 pm. The photo gallery will still be working, but the blog posts might be inaccessible for a while.

SGX Journal C4W7D1 (Plyometric Fun)

Thoughts: I don’t know why I bother to step on a scale on Monday mornings. It invariably reads 3-4 lbs higher than normal on Mondays because of the splurge meal I take at my parents’ house for dinner on Sunday nights. It’s the one serving of white rice (mmm….white rice….) I get per week, so I treasure it as some women prize their free day ice cream binges. Anyhow, just so the rest of you don’t feel so panicky and alone in your post-free day water weight gain, I was 136.8 lbs this morning, up three from my challenge low of 133.8 lbs Saturday morning. I should be back to normal in a day or two of regularly planned meals.

This was a fairly active weekend for me. Friday night included my delayed upper body workout along with some quality time on the treadmill and elliptical at Gold’s. Saturday was cross training cardio day with some bike, treadmill, and elliptical mixed in there for variety. Sunday was outdoor activity day–all you can eat pancake splurge meal at DeLeon Springs near Deland, partially burned off by the 20 minute trail run I did before the meal and the hour of canoeing against the current I enjoyed after the pancake-o-rama.

I tried out a plyometric jump workout this morning instead of the regular cardio just for the hell of it–I’d eaten enough carbs on Sunday to fuel a high intensity session, I figured.

Whoa…what a workout. I was pooped after half an hour, but stuck it out for 45 minutes total before I ran out of time and had to hop in the shower to get ready for work. I will try to do the DVD once a week, hopefully with enough skill at soft landings to keep my downstairs neighbor from banging on the ceiling with a broomstick.

Anyone who doesn’t think that jumping around for 45 minutes is much of a workout should try doing jump squats in place for 45 minutes. Alternately, hop into one of those inflatable bouncy castles that you can rent for your kid’s birthday party sometime. Kids can keep going forever in one of those things, but adults are ready for some sit-down time after 5 minutes.
