Fancy That!

Kick in the Pants Reminder of the Week: Eating super clean apparently has a direct correlation to weight loss. Yes, I know this is stupidly obvious, but deep down inside, I always figured that one little chocolate a day wouldn’t hurt, and neither would an extra bite or two of lunch or a couple of butter cookies. This slacker-tude is the philosophy espoused by the new Body for Life Women book, which tells women to just get it right 80% of the time each day. Bull shit. Getting it right 100% of the time each day and then having reasonable, planned splurge meals is the way to go if you don’t want to spin your wheels and go nowhere for months.

I didn’t think yesterday morning’s weigh-in was fully accurate since I was retaining a bit of extra water, so I hopped on the scale again for a quick peek today before my Kenpo workout. I was right. 134.6 lbs this morning, which indicates that my caloric intake and burn estimates for my program are pretty accurate. Assuming a relatively steady rate of loss through July 1, I should easily hit my target of 128-130 lbs.

:wig:

There were no doughnuts at the office when I arrived today, but there are two big bags of Dunkin Donuts bagels, which are nearly as bad. I do love me some carbs. I’m saving my free meal for the Orlando Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce banquet tonight, however, so no bready goodness for me today.

My pull-ups are really getting better. I had to give myself a bit of leg propulsion at first to yank my body up, but now I can do a slow, controlled pull-up and repeat up to 6 times if I use the parallel grips. I’m only up to 4 on the overhands, and maybe 5 on the reverse grips. Still, progress is steady and encouraging. I may hit 10 by the end of the P&P challenge at this rate. Won’t the gym bunnies and rats at Gold’s be surprised to see me back and doing full pull-ups after 2 months absence?

It’s too bad my first year contract doesn’t start going month to month until the first week of June. I’m not even going to the gym at all this month since I’m doing P90X in my apartment and my extra cardio at the fitness center. It would have been nice to put my membership on hold for three months while I do the P90X cycle and save a few bucks. Oh well…Maybe I’ll take a few classes there for cardio.

I haven’t had the desire to throttle any peppy female fitness instructors in a while. Perhaps it’s time to check out another pilates or spinning class.
