1/10/08 Log: Down with the Babydoll!

Sleepy morning for me. I woke up at 6 am, took care of the kitty litter, took the trash out before the truck came by, then fell back asleep until 8:30.

Whoops!

Off-topic to my fellow cat-loving readers: Does anyone else’s cat impatiently wait directly behind you when you are scooping, and immediately step inside the newly-cleaned litter box to stake his/her claim, or is that just my Neville? He also, immediately after taking care of business, spends about 10 minutes spazzing out and tearing around the house, through the kitty flap, around the patio, and back again yodeling “Ow-ruh! Ow-ruh! Ow-ruh!” like something scary attacked him while he was in the box. I suspect that his own poop baffles and terrifies him.

Crazy feline.

Well, I stayed clean on food today as penance, and I did run/walk intervals for 30 minutes during my lunch break in lieu of the missed skate this morning. Yoga and TT core to follow tonight when I get home from work.

Chris gets back tonight from Tallahassee, so my blissful solo evenings at home watching LA Ink and Project Runway while doing crunches and planks on the living room carpet are over for now.

Speaking of Project Runway, does anyone else watch? I cannot believe they booted Kevin last night (his dress wasn’t as disastrous as Christian’s or Ricky’s…or even the winner’s) AND gave the win to that hideous bubble-skirted, electric blue, bejeweled babydoll monstrosity that Victorya put out. BLARGH! Bubble skirts and babydoll silhouettes are not hot on anyone, no matter how in shape, stick-thin, or confident they are. That dress made her client (a slim high school track gal) look like a boobless, slouching blue popsicle complete with two sticks coming out of the bottom.

Observe:
Victorya’s dress

I think this one by Chris (whom I am soooo glad they brought back the other week)…

Chris’s dress

or this one by Sweet P…

Sweet P’s dress

were much more worthy of a win.

  1. I completely agree with your observations. Didn’t like it AT ALL. I really liked the one that Sweet Pea made

  2. Oh god, I’m so glad that you watch Project Runway as well!
But we have different fashion point of views, to be sure.

I agree the blue bubble was yucky, but mostly because of the “bedazzled” chest plate.

Chris’ was gorgeous. Sweetpea’s was beautiful as well – I think that she should have won.

I’ll miss Kevin (loved him!) but I think they kept Christian for his vision… and, um, I’m not sure about Ricky. Ratings maybe? He does cry a lot, that’s gotta be good for ratings.

  3. Sweetpea should have won … except for the train, her dress was rockstar lovely – I bet her gal loved it. Ricky should have gone home. And Victorya’s dress was not attractive or innovative or remotely prom appropriate.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who does planks while watching tv 😀

  4. Yeah, that dress was HORRENDOUS. And I don’t even know how Christian could have made such an unbelievably unflattering dress. What an awful challenge week!

  5. Hey, Maggie –
I found your blog via Pink Dumbbells, and I have to say I’m so impressed with your dedication and progress. It’s a kick start for me (while in pretty good shape) to gain and use the muscle I really want. Anyhoo–

    1) Yes, my cat lurks while I clean her litter just so she can prove her excretory talent in my presence. I’m curious if she’d like a round of applause afterwards, or just a new tiara, to look like the princess she thinks she is.

    2) I was really impressed by Chris’s dress, where I’ve been underwhelmed by his designs in previous episodes. While Victorya’s at least had some kind of personal statement, I was equally dismayed by Ricky’s. I ask myself how he’s still survived so many episodes being in the bottom-performing rung consistently. Any thoughts?

    3) I’m looking to re-vamp my workout of weights and cardio (4-5 times a week, 1hr. duration) to increase muscle and melt off excess fat. Did you find more success with TT or P90x? I’m shopping around and would love any feedback you have to offer.

    Thanks!
